We shared a self-help leaflet with practical tips, produced staff-led video reels on managing winter illnesses (reaching over 165,000 views on social media), and provided a toolkit for NHS colleagues to share our messaging. We also ran a radio advert and highlighted our campaign during the first of our community listening events. By the end of October, 111 calls for sore throats, earaches, and rashes dropped by 25%, with 2,300 fewer calls compared to October last year.
This month, we’re targeting falls-related 999 calls, especially in Preston – the area where the 2023 winter data tells us the most falls calls came from, relative to its population. We’ve partnered with the Alzheimer’s Society for a falls event in Penwortham on 20 November, created a falls prevention postcard, social media assets, and are running weekly ads in the Lancashire Evening Post.
