Gary was presented with the Exceptional Specialist Paramedic Award for his role in developing and delivering simulation newborn and maternity training in collaboration with Liverpool Women’s Hospital and the NWAS Maternity Team.
He has dedicated his time to improving his knowledge in this area, undertaking pre-hospital maternity training and being recognised as a potential instructor for the Resuscitation Council after completing the out-of-hospital newborn life support course.
Gary has provided opportunities for hundreds of staff to engage in this learning, coordinating attendees, sourcing state-of-the-art equipment and driving forward education in an area most ambulance clinicians have little experience in and find most stressful.
By introducing these maternity teaching days, NWAS clinicians can work alongside midwives to improve their clinical skills for our maternity and newborn patients.
Gary was also one of two advanced paramedics who responded to the Southport incident, providing leadership and delivering advanced care.
Well done, Gary!
