Hadil Larkat has been a dedicated PPP member for the past 18 months. Our panel gives members of the public a voice and the chance to have their views acted upon and this is what influenced Hadil to join. Today, she shares her experience and why she chose to get involved.
“I decided to join because I wanted to make a meaningful contribution to my community and help improve the services that support people in need. I was inspired by the opportunity to ensure that patient voices are heard and to help shape a service that is so essential to people’s lives.”
We offer varying levels of participation, allowing members to engage in a way that suits their availability and interests. Consult level allows volunteers to share feedback virtually from the comfort of their own home. Co-produce level involves participating in meetings both online and in person, whereas our influence level, our highest level of involvement, requires members to take on an ongoing, active role in high-level meetings and committees usually held at our headquarters.
Hadil is an influence member and during her time with us, has contributed to several improvement projects. She said, “I’ve been involved in reviewing patient leaflets to ensure they are clear and accessible, and I’ve participated in workshops to discuss new initiatives aimed at improving patient care.”
Like many of our volunteers, Hadil finds the experience deeply rewarding. She shared, “For me, being a PPP member has been incredibly rewarding. It has allowed me to develop new skills, connect with others who are passionate about improving healthcare, and make a tangible difference in my community. I feel it also benefits the service, as they gain real-world insights from patients, which helps them implement meaningful improvements that align with patient needs.”
Now, Hadil hopes to inspire others to get involved. She added, “I would absolutely recommend volunteering with NWAS. It is a fantastic way to give back to your community, make a positive impact, and work with a team dedicated to making a difference. It’s an enriching experience where your voice truly matters, and you can help improve vital services for everyone.”
