Did you know that Warrington has the third highest risk of assaults to ambulance staff in the North West region, behind Blackpool and Manchester City Centre? Figures show that an ambulance worker is assaulted every month or shown aggression every 12 days in Warrington. So, together with officers from Cheshire Police’s night time economy (NTE) team, we went to key locations in the area, including Stockton Health and Warrington Town Centre, to raise awareness. We spoke to lots of members of the public to highlight the increase in levels of violence towards staff and drive home the message that these actions will not be tolerated.
Our Violence, Prevention, Reduction and Security team are working with a group of specialists from health, education, police, youth offending, probation, local government and social care across the region to tackle violent crime. We are pleased to be working with them to support our staff. Over the coming weeks, we will be sharing more about taking a stand throughout the North West to ensure our staff can work without fear.
