The Pictorial Communications Handbook aims to overcome communication barriers with patients who have learning disabilities, language barriers or other communication difficulties. The handbook uses symbols, pictures and simple words to help our staff communicate with patients who may not be able to speak or provide clear or coherent information.
It allows us to provide a tool to overcome fears that people with communication difficulties may have about using the service.
We have two Pictorial Communications Handbooks, one for communicating with emergency patients and a separate one to help us communicate with our patient transport service patients. For information on either of the above please contact our Patient Engagement team at [email protected] or on 0345 112 6500.
