Unbelievably it is becoming increasingly common for our staff to find themselves subjected to violence and aggression from the people they’re trying to help, or their families and friends. This can come both verbally and physically, in person or over the phone.

Whilst this is an issue for the whole of the NHS – and work is being done on a national level to address the issue – we also wanted to try and tackle the problem locally.

In 2018 we launched Stop Abuse – #GetBehind999, a campaign aimed at rallying support for all emergency service staff. There is no excuse and no justification for abusing those who go to work to help people.
